Shop For The Messenger

Over All Rating Reviews :
I found this at a local used bookstore for $1 today and decided to give it a try. I very often play older adventure and strategy games from the late 90s and early 00s since they are cheap, fun entertainment for those who aren't hung up on the latest graphics. Taking into account the fact that I really don't care about graphics, this game was awful. The interface is frustrating and clunky to begin with. Secondly, the story premise is preposterous entering into the game (even for an adventure game - some of which have "out there story lines.") All we know is that sh received some tape from her dad telling to break into the Louvre to get certain artifacts so that they can be kept from the Black Templars and the apocalypse won't occur. We don't know why her dad would have known any of this (even providing the fact that perhaps he was an archeologist would have been enough), the message makes it sounds like she has never really cared that much for her da yet the next cut scene shows her breaking into one of the most famous museums in the world, etc. Her first encounter with another being is a ghost who calls her a witch (why? she is a modern woman who happens to be armed with a catsuit and crossbow, there is nothing that indicates she is a witch), the first time I "died" it was b/c guards who saw here claimed that she was a witch (again why? at most she would have been indecently clothes in their historic setting), and Morgana's first encounter in the Louvre led to her side of the conversation being nonsensical ramblings that seemed to have little to do with the conversation at hand.

Yes, the graphics are pathetic for something released in '01 but that really was the least of my problems with this game. After about 10 minutes I simply gave up because it was not worth wasting my time on. This used copy will be promptly returned to the used bookstore, and I am glad that I only wasted $1.00 to give it a try.

Discount The Messenger

Over All Rating Reviews :
I was so excited when the game arrived so I popped it in as soon as I could and it started out okie, the intro movie was a little choppy and boring but the musem break throu was cool. I think that was the best five minutes of the game the rest was horrible! The main character was annoying I mean come on who has to change clothes to throw a rock? there were so many cut scenes that were not needed. I swear the girl had to change her clothes to do the smallest things. The puzzles were [disappointing], the characters didn't even open there mouths to speak and looked almost like zombies and the ending didn't even make sense because you can barely understand what the hell they are saying. This is the worse game I have every played I'm so glad I only paid four dollars for it.

Cheapest The Messenger

Over All Rating Reviews :
One star for the little bit of adventure. I started the game but couldn't stick with it, gave up playing it even when I was craving for any adventure game. Too technically gadgety. Boring.
